Aventail Secure Collaboration extends company’s leading remote access solution to include Remote Helpdesk, Web Conferencing, VoIP, and other tools...
Seattle, Wash. – Interop New York – December 12, 2005 – Leading SSL VPN technology company Aventail Corp. is adding a Web collaboration solution to its secure, remote access product. Aventail Secure Collaboration is a full-featured collaboration solution that includes Remote Helpdesk, Web Conferencing, Instant Messaging, Secure VoIP chat, and other tools, all integrated with the Aventail SSL VPN. The solution supports up to 500 concurrent users and multiple platforms, including Windows, Mac, Linux, and PocketPC.
Aventail Secure Collaboration and SSL VPN together provide the most complete secure access solution, as no other VPN provides the breadth of collaboration tools in one product via a common portal with centralized policy and control. Most VPNs do not offer collaboration tools at all, and those that do offer them provide a hosted only service or Windows-only platform, or have products with limited functionality, such as no VoIP, no secure instant messaging, and no presence portal.
"As workforce mobility becomes more business critical, a logical next step in the evolution of SSL VPN solutions is to broaden secure access from predominately 'user-to-applications' to include 'user-to-user' connections," said Michael Suby, senior analyst at Stratecast Partners (a division of Frost & Sullivan). "To be effective, the solution must be easy to use for both users and administrators, and the 'speed-dial' feature of Aventail's solution, as well as its support across all devices and network environments, match up well with these needs.”
The Secure Collaboration solution extends Aventail’s leadership in secure access between users and applications to now include secure user-to-user communication. Aventail Secure Collaboration integrates seamlessly with the Aventail SSL VPN with shared policy management, a single gateway to all resources and collaboration tools, and single sign-on, so users only need to authenticate one time.
There are three main scenarios in the Aventail Secure Collaboration product:
1. Secure Remote Helpdesk: A Web-based, easy to use remote helpdesk solution available through a portal from any device, platform and network connection that is VoIP and text enabled.
2. Secure Web Conferencing: An easy to use and scalable Web Conferencing solution for meetings, training sessions, or demonstrations across multiple platforms and user groups.
3. Secure Teamwork: Collaboration tools that allow instant and impromptu conversations, scheduled meetings, and ad hoc collaboration between users and groups.
“Most companies will see a return on investment within three to six months of deploying Secure Collaboration with our SSL VPN,” said Sarah Daniels, vice president of product management and marketing, Aventail. “The cost savings are realized in several areas, for example, companies will no longer need separate collaboration products, and they will receive additional productivity and security gains for collaboration functions such as VoIP and instant messaging.”
