Vulnerability Prevention Team Blocks Largest Worm Outbreak of the Year...

London, UK – December 2, 2005 – SonicWALL, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNWL) today announced that users of its Internet threat prevention technology are actively being protected from what experts are calling the Sober.U-Packed worm. Many believe that this threat is the worst computer worm outbreak this year. Thus far, SonicWALL has monitored attempted infections at a rate of up to three million a day and growing.

The Sober.U-Packed worm infiltrates organizations worldwide by posing as an e-mail attachment from such organizations as the FBI and other international government organizations. It also can take the form of a generic e-mail message. Once infected, users can expect a variety of threats resulting from disabled security software protection. These threats can include e-mails being sent to a user’s contact list that hackers can then use to compromise the user’s data.
