...major win for Portaltech in UK industry awards with its QuickLive solution...

London – 18 November 2009: Portaltech, a leading UK eCommerce Systems Integrator and Consultancy, today announced that it won the IT Project Team of the Year category at this year’s much coveted British Computer Society and Computing UK IT Industry Awards. The award was given for Portaltech’s work with retailer Long Tall Sally to design, implement and launch a new UK online shop and the migration of its e-commerce operation to Portaltech’s QuickLive, powered by hybris (www.hybris.com), a leading multi-channel commerce and communication software vendor.

Long Tall Sally’s decision to invest in Portaltech’s QuickLive has enabled the company to launch and manage multiple sites with relative ease. The new platform is easier to maintain, requires less training and eliminates much of the costly integration of disparate technologies, reducing the overall cost of ownership. The new eCommerce system supplied by Portaltech also brings significant enhancements to the retailer’s online merchandising and promotional capabilities, enabling them to drive sales conversion rates through its full-text search facility, interactive product recommendation and a user review system that allows customers to rate products and buyer experience overall.

Andrew Walker, CEO of Portaltech, said: “The team involved in a project is at the heart of its success irrespective of its scale or the technologies involved. Getting the right mix of professional skills and personalities can be the difference between success and failure and this is something that we have always placed a lot of emphasis on. It’s great to see our efforts recognised in this way and we are thrilled to win the IT Project Team of the Year category.”

David Clarke, Chief Executive Officer of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, said: “This year’s Awards have been exceptional. I was delighted to take part in the judging day and witness firsthand the quality of the winners and medalists. To qualify as a finalist is terrific, to win is an absolutely fantastic achievement, and I offer my heartfelt congratulations to all those took part. They not only provide examples of best practice but also demonstrate how IT is enabling today’s information society from entertainment to healthcare, manufacturing to retail.”

Robin Booth, Publishing Director of Computing comments: “Computing is very proud to join forces with BCS to create such prestigious awards and celebrate UK innovation and best practice. Today IT drives business and this year’s deserving winners signify the importance and value that technology brings to business, society and the economy.”
