23 April 2009 - Virgin Trains, the UK’s leading rail network, has selected cxpartners to conduct a full usability study and re-design for their new website

User-centred design consultancy, cxpartners, will carry out usability testing on the Virgin Trains website to understand the way in which customers currently use the site, and how well it is performing. Using their current experience of travel booking (with companies such as First Choice, Expedia and theTrainline) cxpartners will review existing customer research, carry out eye tracking tests and send team members out into the field to watch customers at stations as they book and use Virgin Trains’ services.

Sarah Copley, Sales and Marketing Director at Virgin Trains, comments, “We want to develop a site that is best of breed within online rail, that will also reflect the Virgin brand. In order to provide the best possible service for rail passengers, we recognise the need to look further into what passengers both want and need. We’re confident that the research and re-development will support us in providing customers with an innovative, efficient website.”

Joe Leech, User Experience Consultant at cxpartners adds, “Our experience of conducting this kind of study is a perfect fit for Virgin Trains as we have a proven track record of conducting qualitative usability research for organisations in the travel and leisure industries. This is a significant contract for us and we’re very much looking forward to seeing the outcome.”
