Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX) announces that during its 25th General Meeting on November 26, Mark van der Laan, manager interconnection procurement at Vodafone, has handed over his role of chairman of the board to Wilfried Dudink, director sales development at Deutsche Telekom. Mark van der Laan has been a member since 2003 and has headed the board since 2006 until completion of his board term.
Besides appointing Wilfried Dudink as chairman, the board of AMS-IX also welcomes new members Willem Malherbe – head of strategy at Vodafone, Didier Soucheyre – president of the French company Neotelecoms, and Reinart Wellinkvoorde –senior specialist interconnection at Ziggo. Jan Paul Dekker, technical manager at RTL Interactive has served his term and resigned. Simon Hania, member of the board since November 2006 has resigned early due to the abundance of excellent new board candidates and his recent switch from XS4ALL to TomTom, which is not a member of AMS-IX.
Wilfried Dudink indicates: “The Amsterdam Internet Exchange is one of the most important exchanges for Internet traffic. More and more national, but especially international, Internet, content and telecom providers find their way to this exchange. I think that with the new composition of the board, we have found the perfect mix to help AMS-IX develop even further as a leader and frontrunner in this international market.”
During the last General Meeting it was also announced that Christian Kaufmann, senior manager network architecture at Akamai will take on the role of vice-chairman in the coming period. New board member Willem Malherbe will be treasurer of the board for the same period of time especially because of his background as a chartered accountant.
Job Witteman, general manager at AMS-IX: “This new composition of the board features all important groups that make up our members. To us this is extremely important so the board can take well-funded decisions for the suggested strategic developments around the exchange.”
