Commitment to open source approach in e-Government highlighted by strategic collaboration

London, 6 August 2008: EzGov Europe (www.ezgoveurope.com ), the UK’s market leader in transformational solutions for the public sector, today announced that it has become the first Red Hat Systems Integrator Partner focusing exclusively on the public sector.

As part of a strategic collaboration with Red Hat, the world's leading provider of open source solutions, the agreement marks another milestone in EzGov Europe’s commitment to open source solutions for central government. With Red Hat, EzGov Europe’s clients have access to an enormous development community, one with standardized, guaranteed support via the EzGov Europe and Red Hat alliance. At the same time, no client is tied to a particular vendor; the open source approach ensures this.

Steve Smith, VP of Sales and Marketing for EzGov Europe, explains that “the public sector, perhaps more than any other vertical, is averse to the risks of technological lock-in. This is as it should be, when you’ve got smart CIOs trying to make enterprise and platform decisions that won’t doom future administrations to a particular technology or vendor. It’s the reason EzGov Europe has built its business on open source solutions. Red Hat has been the leading proponent for and provider of open source technologies since its founding; we’re natural allies. Formalising the relationship means even greater opportunity to revolutionise how government delivers and communicates with its customers.”

Steve Gaines, JBoss Sales Manager, Red Hat UK Ltd, said, “Our collaboration with EzGov will be a contributing factor to the success of Red Hat within the UK public sector. As a trusted partner within Central Government, EzGov is in an excellent position to take Red Hat and JBoss technologies to market and deliver the related services required to bring transformational government projects online.”
