July 18th 2008, Manchester – Tanners Wines, a leading fine wine merchant which sells through stores, mail order, brochures, web and catalogue, has chosen a business management solution from Maginus, expert providers of integrated software solutions for multi channel retail & distribution companies, to improve its customer management and support its growing business.
Maginus is supplying an end to end business solution which includes back office, sales operations, warehousing, financials and purchasing. It is also deploying Maginus in store as a POS solution.
Sian Griffiths, Financial Director at Tanners Wines said, “We investigated six different systems after conducting a full review of what was available in the market. We chose the Maginus solution because we were impressed with the functionality, and we like how Maginus approached the project and the implementation process. They understood our requirements and were committed to helping us achieve our project goals. They understand our business, and they have a proven track record with other similar companies.”
The new system from Maginus will replace the Trinity Drinkmaster solution that the company has run for the last 12 years. Sian commented, “The Maginus system is streets ahead of our old solution. The new solution has much more to offer, particularly in the area of CRM and marketing. In addition, Maginus ERP can handle all of our wine specific functionality requirements – including En primeur, bonded warehousing and customs & excise reporting.”
Tanner Wines was also impressed with the direct marketing expertise and functionality that the Maginus solution is able to offer. It will allow the company to run targeted marketing and promotions, and will improve its general business process efficiency.
Russell Dorset, sales and marketing director, Maginus, said, “We are delighted to welcome another key wine merchant to our customer list. We have a proven track record in this sector and are looking forward to demonstrating our ability to handle both everyday as well as specialist requirements for wine merchants.”
The project has just started, and is planned to go live in September.
About Tanners Wine Merchants:
Tanners Wines, established in 1842, is a fine wine merchant which operates within top quality wines, everyday wines, beers, spirits and accessories and sells into hotels, restaurants, pubs, caterers and private clients. The company has a true multi-channel offering which includes four stores, mail order, brochures, web, catalogue and a fine wine list.
Tanners employs around 50 people in Shrewsbury, 40 in Welshpool and a further 20 on other sites. The company is family-owned, family-run and staunchly independent. Approximately 60% of the firm's sales are to quality-minded hotels and restaurants, public houses and clubs, not only locally but country wide
Tanners are part owners of the Merchant Vintners Company and its subsidiaries. This association of independent wine merchants was founded in 1965 to ensure that members could prosper, whilst preserving their individuality in the face of large groups. Today's combined annual turnover of some £120 million and combined membership of a larger group with £5 billion turnover, ensures that Tanners can, in addition to their own fine wines, offer national brands of wines and spirits as competitively as anyone.
