London, May 21, 2008 +++ snom technology AG, developer and manufacturer of Voice over IP (VoIP) telephones (www.snom.com), today announced the first open-standard native Office Communication SIP (OCS) telephone. The snom OCS edition will be presented to the public for the first time at CeBIT Australia, Sydney, 20-22 May 2008...
The snom OCS edition is the first VoIP phone that provides professional business communication features like VPN use on the basis of open standards. The snom OCS edition phone supports the SIP open standard and works in parallel with existing IP-PBXs to prevent disruption to the existing hybrid telephony infrastructure.
It enables every user to integrate their snom VoIP phones with Microsoft Unified Communications technologies. This means that every user of the snom VoIP phones will be able to use the familiar features of the Microsoft Office Communication Server. The user can always see the status of each of his contacts, and to make a call, the user simply has to click on the Active Directory and the computer places the call. Sending files directly from the OCS is also possible, as is searching for a contact via voice.
The snom OCS edition phone features a large display area to provide users with a clear image of the information on screen. The phone also enables users to customize the display with graphics and high-resolution pictures. It can support several audio devices simultaneously, including handsets, headsets and hands-free units. Like all snom VoIP phones, the snom OCS edition has minimal power consumption (approximately two watts).
The new snom OCS edition offers the benefits of unified communications to the open standard community for the first time. The snom OCS edition phone supports the SIP open standard and works in parallel with existing IP-PBXs to prevent disruption to the existing hybrid telephony infrastructure. It can even be used to connect remote offices and business units through a standard virtual private network (VPN).
The snom OCS edition will have its premiere at CeBIT Australia 2008, where the company will be at booth C58. After the fair, snom will be undertaking a worldwide roadshow under the slogan “unify, simplify, snomify” taking the snom OCS edition to Melbourne and Sydney in Australia, the US, Europe and Africa.
